MOVE DIRECTLY FROM SCAN MESH TO CAD


EXModel provides a direct scan-to-CAD workflow for reverse engineering and design. Mesh cleanup, alignment, primitive extraction, sections, sketching and surfacing tools support reconstruction from measured geometry, with direct transfer available from supported SHINING 3D scan software.


It suits legacy parts, replacement components, design modification and general reverse engineering. EXModel Pro extends the environment with more advanced sketch, solid, hybrid and freeform-surface tools for projects that need a more complete reconstruction workflow.

SCAN-TO-CAD APPLICATIONS

DECIDE WHAT THE FINISHED MODEL SHOULD PRESERVE


Scan data records the physical part, including wear, deformation and manufacturing variation. Reverse engineering requires deciding which of those conditions belong in the CAD model and which areas should be reconstructed as cleaner engineering geometry.


  • Mesh-derived geometry: preserve measured conditions where the real part is the design reference.
  • Idealized reconstruction: use primitives, sketches and fitted surfaces where cleaner engineering geometry is required.
  • Match the toolset to the project: use EXModel for the core mesh-to-CAD workflow or EXModel Pro when more advanced sketch, solid, hybrid and freeform tools are needed.
