3D Systems Phantom Touch, Touch X and Premium haptic devices for force-feedback interaction with digital 3D environments.

Haptic Devices

Force-Feedback Devices for 3D Design, Simulation & Research

Add physical force feedback to digital workflows so users can feel contact, resistance and motion while interacting with virtual 3D objects.

Phantom Touch X haptic device with articulated stylus for force-feedback interaction with digital 3D content.

ADD PHYSICAL FEEDBACK TO DIGITAL INTERACTION

Phantom Haptics are kinesthetic force-feedback devices that translate interaction with digital geometry into physical resistance at the user's hand. As the stylus moves through a virtual environment, the device can reproduce programmed effects such as contact, friction, mass, motion constraints and other forces, making 3D interaction tactile as well as visual.

The Phantom family ranges from the compact Touch and Touch X desktop systems to four Premium configurations with larger workspaces, higher-force options and available six-degree-of-freedom force and torque feedback. Applications include 3D design and digital sculpting, medical and procedural simulation, training, research, virtual assembly, robotic control and other workflows where the user needs to physically interact with digital 3D content.

SELECT THE DEVICE AROUND THE INTERACTION

Touch, Touch X and the Premium models share the same basic purpose, but the workspace, position resolution, available force and feedback configuration change with the application. The compact desktop systems suit close hand movement, while the Premium platform expands the working range and adds high-force and six-degree-of-freedom configurations for more demanding simulation and research environments.

  • Desktop haptics: Touch provides six-degree-of-freedom positional sensing with three-degree-of-freedom force feedback, while Touch X increases available force, position resolution and servo-loop rate.
  • Premium configurations: choose standard, High Force, 6DOF or High Force/6DOF versions around the required workspace and type of physical feedback.
  • Digital design: Touch and Touch X can be paired with Geomagic Freeform so designers can feel resistance while sculpting and manipulating digital geometry.
  • Custom integration: OpenHaptics provides the development layer for haptic applications, with support for Unity and Unreal workflows as well as direct SDK integration.
