Metrology 3D scan of an industrial component with a colour deviation comparison to CAD

3D Inspection & Quality Control

3D Dimensional Inspection, CAD Comparison & Reporting

Measure parts, tooling and assemblies in 3D to understand dimensional variation, fit, wear and conformance.

FULL-FIELD MEASUREMENT FOR PARTS, TOOLING & ASSEMBLIES

CAMS uses metrology 3D scanning to capture complete surface geometry and evaluate it against CAD or defined inspection requirements. Depending on the project, the analysis may include colour deviation maps, dimensions, cross-sections, feature measurements, GD&T evaluation and a structured inspection report.

The inspection plan is built around the question the data needs to answer. First-article review, tooling verification, production troubleshooting, wear analysis and dimensional validation may use the same measurement equipment, but they do not require the same alignment, resolution, analysis or reporting approach.

MEASURE WHAT THE DECISION REQUIRES

A useful inspection result combines the right measurement strategy with the right analysis. Full-surface comparison shows overall distortion, while dimensions, sections, features and GD&T address specific engineering or quality questions.

  • Alignment strategy: use datum, feature, best-fit or project-specific alignment based on how the part should be evaluated.
  • Focused analysis: combine full-field deviation with dimensions, sections and feature checks where they add useful information.
  • Reporting: organize results so one-off investigations or recurring inspections communicate the condition of the part clearly.
